AV CAD Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AV CAD Technician to join our client on a permanent basis, hybrid role. The AV CAD Technician is responsible for creating detailed AutoCAD drawings and designs for audiovisual (AV) systems in various environments. This role involves working closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and high-quality designs that meet client specifications and industry standards.

3 days onsite per week on average (office based on the border between Co. Kildare and Co. Meath, easy commute from North Dublin).

What will you be doing? (Responsibilities)

- Drafting and Design: Create detailed AV system designs, including schematics, layouts, and equipment specifications, using AutoCAD and other design software

- Collaboration: Work with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather requirements and ensure that designs meet the project specifications and client needs

- Documentation: Produce comprehensive design documentation, including block diagrams, wiring schematics, rack elevations, and system layouts

- Quality Assurance: Review designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and client requirements

- Coordination: Assist in coordinating with installation teams to ensure that designs are implemented correctly and efficiently

- Technical Support: Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases to address any design-related issues

- Updates and Revisions: Maintain and update design documents as changes occur throughout the project lifecycle

- Industry Standards: Stay current with AV industry standards, technologies, and best practices

What do you need? (Requirements)

- Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, Drafting, Audio Visual Technology) preferred

- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in AV system design and CAD drafting

- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software (e.g., Revit, Visio)

- Strong understanding of AV systems, including audio, video, control, and networking components

- Knowledge of industry standards such as AVIXA (formerly InfoComm) and other relevant guidelines

- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., AVIXA CTS, AutoCAD certification) are a plus
