Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, you will need experience in defining infrastructure solutions for complex enterprise systems with a customer-oriented and operationally resilient approach. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing digital operational resilience guidance, standards, and patterns for architecture and engineering teams to align with.
- Identifying operational and resilience risks, proposing solutions, and re-engineering processes to mitigate risks and prevent future weaknesses.
- Defining target architectures and roadmaps to address technology vulnerabilities related to critical technology services.
- Designing innovative, performant, secure, and resilient infrastructure solutions with a customer-first mindset.
- Participating in service mapping workshops with the Operational Resilience team and critical business service representatives.
- Collaborating with the Architecture Community of Practice to ensure alignment across technology domains.
- Maintaining a repository of design artifacts and associated technology roadmaps, facilitating operational handover during service introduction.
- Continuously developing your skills and staying updated on industry trends, best practices, technologies, and customer trends.
- Building your brand and network across the organization.
Requirements: Essential:
- Minimum 7 years of experience across multiple IT roles, including at least 5 years in an Architecture role within a large organization, preferably in a regulated industry.
- Proven track record of end-to-end solution design, encompassing requirements gathering, high-level/low-level design, governance, and execution consultancy for significant enterprise IT technology infrastructure deployments.
- Demonstrated skills in risk management, including identification of operational resilience risks and developing associated mitigation plans.
- Broad knowledge of compute, network, and storage infrastructure pillars, with experience designing solutions across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Proficiency in designing infrastructure to support monolithic and container architectures using IaaS, DBaaS, CaaS, or PaaS across on-premise and/or public clouds.
- Thorough understanding of operational resilience, with a track record of delivering highly resilient solutions across different availability tiers.
- Strong knowledge of core network and security principles, including VxLAN, SDN, WAF, load balancing, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with core infrastructure monitoring and APM products.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to peers and management colleagues, and strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercial and vendor management acumen, keeping up to date with IT trends and innovations in the market.
- Experience architecting change in a highly regulated environment.
- Natural leadership qualities, inquisitive nature, and a passion for solving complex problems through technology.
Desired:
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code and leading automation tooling, including blueprint/playbook build, provisioning, and cloud integration.
- Systems integration experience across disparate technology stacks, both on-premise and off-premise.
- Knowledge of enterprise integration solutions, including eventing and file-based systems.
- Experience working with and managing technology vendors and trusted third parties.
- Familiarity with digital banking solutions such as web/mobile channel integration and digital payment solutions.
- Previous experience in digital operational resilience or similar domains.
- Industry-recognized certifications in public cloud, virtualization, containerization, or automation would be advantageous.
- Relevant architecture certifications like TOGAF or CITA would be beneficial.
